5 Minute Homemade Ice Cream

In our family, we all like to have a small snack before bed and sometimes my kids like for it to be sweet. And to be clear, so does my husband and I. Haha. So since it's still Summer, this recipe for "ice cream" hits the spot for all of us. The beautiful thing is that there are two ingredients which include melatonin (the chemical that controls the body's internal clock to regulate sleep) cherries and bananas.

With only a few ingredients you will have a delicious healthy treat to satisfy everyone's sweet kick and sleep aid without refined or added sugars.

Slice up your bananas and freeze first.

You can find this bag of frozen cherries at your local Costco for a low cost. And they are pitted.

Makes 6-8 servings

INGREDIENTS:
3 frozen bananas (sliced)
1/2 cup cream (we use half and half)
2 cups frozen cherries (can use strawberries or any frozen fruit)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:
1. Slice 3 ripe bananas (spotted and brown) place them in a bag and freeze for a few hours.
2. Once bananas are frozen, add them first, cream, and only half of the cherries and blend on high for one minute.
3. Then add the rest of the cherries and blend on high until smooth but firm. If needed, scrape the sides of the blender and blend again.
4. Serve or freeze for 2 hours.

We add mini chocolate chips to the batch for the crunch.
You can add your favorite nuts, maybe some shredded coconut and serve it on an ice cream cone. Yumm...

We hope you enjoy this quick homemade ice cream. Let us know what you think!
