Make Your Home Smell Like Christmas

"It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmassss"

Don't you love the smell of the holidays? Your house will smell just like Christmas in all it's piney-spicy-citrusy-goodness. Thanksgiving morning I put this on the stove about 20 minutes before everyone arrived. The smell of this and the turkey was heavenly. It gave the house such a festive scent.
And today I want to show you just how easy it is to make your own home smell like Christmas!

It's a stove top method. Yip, stove top potpourri.
Have you ever tried it? I'm so old fashioned but it works amazingly well!

Here's what you'll need...

  • 1 medium sized pot
  • 1 tb vanilla
  • 3 cups apple cider or water
  • 1 small sliced orange
  • 1 small sliced lemon
  • 1 bag of fresh cranberries
  • couple of whole cloves
  • couple of cinnamon sticks
  • twig of fresh rosemary or (even fresh pine needles from your Christmas tree)

Once you have all of your ingredients in the pot, fill it up with your liquid leaving about an inch from the top.

Put it on the stove and let it simmer away. Within MINUTES, your entire home will smell so so good.

You can even do this in a small crockpot. You just have to remember to keep adding liquid often.
You can save the potpourri in the fridge for a later use then add fresh water, cranberries and spices instead of discarding all of that goodness.

It also makes nice hosting gifts for family and friends.

I hope you enjoyed this little tip on how you too can make your home smell like Christmas. Love to know if you have done this before, or if your recipe is a little different than mine.
